LVNWWDA participates in inaugural sanitation conference

Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency joined the Ministry of Water & Sanitation and Irrigation and the water sector fraternity at large for the inaugural International Sanitation Conference held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centere, Kenya, between 28th and 31st October, 2019. 

 

The Conference, which was officially opened by The Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya Hon. Dr. William S. Ruto, brought together various players in the sanitation sub-sector from all over the world. The conference provided a unique opportunity to refocus the sector’s attention to the Sanitation issues, a sub sector that has been left behind in the country comparative to the water services sub-sector.

Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency took advantage of the sanitation conference to exhibit and showcase what it has done as an Agency in the Sanitation services provision, the plans that are in place towards accessing access to clean and safe sanitation disposal and the challenges encountered in this undertaking. 

The DP Hon. Dr. William S. Ruto when he visited the stand of Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency, promised the government’s commitment to expanding safe waste water treatments in major towns and centres in the county. The Deputy President that Sewerage water be recycled and be used for irrigation, as one of the approaches to ‘adopt innovative, practical and sustainable’ approaches to ensure waste water is properly used to boost food security in the country.

The function was also attended by all the Board members of Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency led by the Chairman Hon. Dr. Julius Kones, the Ag. CEO Eng. Boniface Mulama and a host of staff of the Agency.
