NCPWD At LVNWWDA

LVNWWDA has been keen on ensuring its premises are friendly to persons with disability. The agency has taken various measures on disability mainstreaming including: placing wheelchair ramps, allocating disability parking slots, sign language training for a few staff, training staff and the Disability Mainstreaming Committee among other key measures.

A team from the National Council of Persons with Disability comprising of Priscah Akoth-Kakamega Coordinator, Rosemary Amiru-Bungoma Coordinator and Farida Malombe visited the agency from 6th to 7th December to undertake accessibility and usability audit. The audit was aimed at confirming the agency’s compliance with set standards and regulations as per the Persons With Disabilities Act.

As part of the exercise, they were given a tour of the agency by members of the agency’s Disability Mainstreaming Committee: Cecilia Syombua and Dennis Nyongesa.

The exercise officially given anode by the CEO Eng. Samson Peter Gongi who noted during the courtesy call in his office that, “Disability is not inability” succeeded the International Day of Persons With Disability.
