WORLD AIDS DAY 2022

As the world marked World AIDS day on 1st December, staff of Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency commemorated the day by pinning red ribbons on their shirts: to represent support and solidarity for those living with HIV and to remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses.

Moreover, the agency’s HIV/AIDS committee invited Mrs. Christine Omuse from the AP Line Dispensary-Kakamega to sensitize staff on HIV/ AIDS. She focussed on key areas i.e., Modes of HIV transmission, risk factors, diagnosis, prevention and treatment. She also encouraged staff to implement this year’s theme: “Equalize” by striving to achieve equity in ending HIV and being on the forefront in fighting HIV/AIDS stigmatization.

Additionally, she handed out GoK condoms and demonstrated the proper ways of using them. She concluded the exercise by encouraging staff to take care of their mental health by reaching out for help whenever they’re troubled psychologically.
